Progressive Women of NEPA announces our endorsement of Fern Leard for the 2024 Pennsylvania Primary Election. Fern is running in the Democratic primary to represent the 120th House District in the Pennsylvania State Legislature. PWNEPA endorsed Fern in 2022 when she ran against the Republican incumbent in a reconfigured district. Although unsuccessful in her 2022 bid for office, Fern "never left the ground" after the 2022 election and has achieved good name saturation. The incumbent is not running for re-election in 2024 leaving the seat open for a competitive race between candidates. Fern feels "there’s a lot of momentum for my candidacy on the ground, despite the Democrats in higher positions trying to keep our legislature a 'boys club.'” PWNEPA supports Fern's work to flip the 120th to advance and protect policies that reflect progressive women's values.
