The mission of Progressive Women of NEPA is to increase the number of progressive women in elective public offices in Pennsylvania state and local governments. We focus our efforts on the seven-county area of NEPA: Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike, Susquehanna, Wayne and Wyoming. We also support progressive women running for statewide offices.
During this 2024 presidential election year, Pennsylvania voters will also elect a U.S. Senator, all 17 members of the U.S. House of Representatives; Pennsylvania's Attorney General, Treasurer and Auditor General; 25 of 50 Pennsylvania State Senators; and, all 203 members of the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives.
Unlike most men, many women do not run for office unless somebody asks them. PWNEPA is asking progressive women, especially our members, to step up to the challenge to run for public office and help encourage other progressive women to also run. PWNEPA welcomes progressive women running for office in our focus area or statewide office to request an application for our endorsement on our website (https://www.prowomennepa.com/apply-for-endorsement).
The first day to circulate nomination petitions to get on the ballot for Pennsylvania's April 23rd primary election is January 23rd and the deadline for submitting petitions is February 13th. Please check the Training tab on the PWNEPA website (https://www.prowomennepa.com/training) for petition information.
