Progressive Women of NEPA

We recruit, train, fund and work to elect progressive women candidates to local and state offices in the counties of Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Pike, Susquehanna, Wayne and Wyoming.  


Our Vision is a healthy democracy in which government establishes and maintains legal, economic and social equity for all people, regardless of sex, race, nationality, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, ability, immigration status, or any other characteristic used to oppress individuals or groups.


  • Public policies that are just, rational and based upon empirical evidence

  • Equal civil liberties and civil rights for all people, in law and in reality

  • Equal educational and economic opportunities for all people

  • Legally guaranteed access to quality, affordable and comprehensive health care, including reproductive services; such as prenatal care, birth control, abortion and postnatal care

  • Protection from oppression and violence used by individuals and groups in order to suppress others



Opportunities include: 

  • Serving on committees

  • Encouraging women to seek political office

  • Learning about the political process

  • Working on the campaigns of endorsed candidates

  • Promoting and attending our fundraising efforts

  • Recruiting other women to join PWNEPA

  • Celebrating the positive outcomes of progressive women in leadership

  • Participating in candidate endorsement and MORE!

(In 2020, to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment to the US Constitution which gave women the right to vote, we launched a membership drive to increase the number of our inaugural members. The one-time $50 membership fee is open only to women who reside in the 7 counties of NEPA. This special membership category will expire at the end of 2022).
